A Leith Wedding to Remember: Aoife & Fergus at Season Quayside
Why Leith is one of Edinburgh’s most unique wedding locations — and a dream for videographers.
Filming Aoife and Fergus’s wedding in Leith was one of those days that reminds me why this part of Edinburgh is such a special place to get married. With its mix of maritime history, cobbled streets, calm waterfront views and industrial edges, Leith offers so many opportunities for natural, cinematic storytelling — the kind of footage that feels real, unforced, and full of personality.
Their ceremony in Edinburgh flowed into a relaxed celebration at Season Quayside, one of Leith’s most atmospheric venues. But before the party kicked off, we took some time to wander around the neighbourhood together, capturing the feel of the area and all those in-between moments that make a wedding film come alive.
Why Leith is a Great Place to Get Married — and Even Better for Wedding Videography
If you’re planning a wedding in Edinburgh and looking for somewhere with character, texture and genuine charm, Leith has so much to offer. Here are some of the reasons it’s quickly becoming one of my favourite locations to film:
1. The Shore: Iconic, Timeless, and Full of Life
The Shore is a gift for wedding videographers — the still water, old stone buildings and soft reflections make it a perfect natural backdrop. Whether you’re after quiet, intimate shots or something more lively, the area adapts beautifully.
With Aoife and Fergus, we walked along the waterfront and captured moments that felt relaxed and authentic, letting the setting do the work.
2. The Iron Bridge: Industrial Romance
This little bridge is one of Leith’s most recognisable spots, adding a touch of texture and contrast to wedding footage.
The metalwork, lines and symmetry create cinematic frames that work in both stills and film — ideal for couples who want something slightly different from traditional Edinburgh wedding photography.
3. Customs Lane: Character and Creativity
Customs Lane has a personality all of its own — colourful fronts, interesting angles, and a mix of urban and artistic detail.
It’s great for movement shots, natural walking clips, and capturing the dynamic vibe of Leith without anything feeling overly posed.
4. Season Quayside: A Venue Made for Films
Season Quayside brings warmth and atmosphere to the day. The light, the textures, the open layout — everything is perfect for videography.
Aoife and Fergus’s reception was relaxed, joyful and full of energy, and the space gave us plenty of room to film naturally without interrupting the flow of the celebration.
A Day Full of Story, Movement and Natural Emotion
What I loved most about filming Aoife and Fergus’s wedding was how comfortable and present they were. Leith has a way of helping couples relax — maybe it’s the water, maybe it’s the slower pace — but it translates beautifully on film.
Their walk around the Shore was full of small moments: laughter, quiet pauses, a few spontaneous hugs, and the kind of natural movement that gives a film personality. These are the moments I look for as a wedding videographer, and Leith delivers them effortlessly.
