TOP FIVE EDINBURGH WEDDING VENUES for a Wedding videographer
As a wedding videographer based in Central Edinburgh, you have the privilege of capturing the magic in some of the most exquisite venues the UK has to offer. Among the plethora of choices, five venues stand out to me for their unique charm, historical significance, and stunning backdrops that I love coming abck to again and again.
THE SIGNET Library
The Signet Library, nestled in the heart of Edinburgh's historic Old Town, is a true gem among wedding venues. Its grand Georgian architecture, adorned with intricate details and elegant interiors, provides a sophisticated backdrop for couples seeking a refined and luxurious atmosphere for their special day. The Signet Library's ornate rooms, such as the Upper Library and Lower Library are incredible and offer ample opportunities for cinematic shots in the same rooms and corrdidors where roylaty and celberities have walked over the last century. The staff here are always lovely and kind to u suppliers (and the couples too!) which is always a bonus on a long day!
Here si my most recent film from this amazing venue:
MANSFIELD TRAQUAIR
Mansfield Traquair is another enchanting venue that captivates with its breathtaking beauty and romantic ambiance. This former Catholic Apostolic Church, with its awe-inspiring murals, lofty ceilings, and Gothic architecture, transports couples and their guests to a bygone era of grandeur and opulence despite being in the heart of the new town, As a wedding videographer, capturing the intricate details of the stained glass windows, the majestic organ, and the ethereal light filtering through the vast space becomes a cinematic journey in itself. On top of that the Georgian Archictecture of Edinburgh New Town (still pretty old!) are amazing for shots of the couple.
Here is my most recent film from this fantastic venue:
Prestonfield House
Nestled amidst lush gardens and parkland below the looming shadow of Arthurs seat, Prestonfield offers couples a picturesque setting for their wedding day. This historic baroque mansion exudes charm and elegance, with its opulent interiors, sumptuous furnishings, and panoramic views of Arthur's Seat and Holyrood Park. As a wedding videographer, you have the opportunity to capture the romance and intimacy of outdoor ceremonies in the estate's sprawling grounds or in the incredibly impressive Stables, framed by centuries-old trees and manicured lawns, as well as the timeless beauty of indoor celebrations in the grandeur of Prestonfield's ornate rooms and halls.
I love working here - it feels like you are a long way from the city with the sprawling fields and highland cows - but you’re not!
Here is one of my recent films from here:
The Royal College of Physicians
The Royal College of Physicians, with its striking neoclassical architecture and rich heritage, provides a majestic backdrop for weddings in the heart of Edinburgh's New Town. The grandeur of the Great Hall, adorned with classical columns, intricate plasterwork, and a magnificent dome ceiling, evokes a sense of grandeur and sophistication befitting the occasion. As a wedding videographer, you have the opportunity to capture the couple's journey down the grand staircase, the exchange of vows beneath the elegant chandeliers, and the joyous celebrations against the backdrop of timeless architectural splendour. You also have use of Queens street gardens just across the road - giginvg the day a country feel despite being quite the opposite!
Here is my most recnet film from this amazing old venue:
THe Ghillie Dhu
Finally, the Ghillie Dhu offers couples a uniquely Scottish wedding experience in the heart of Edinburgh's vibrant city centre. This converted church turned Gaelic social hub exudes rustic charm and character, with its exposed stone walls, vaulted ceilings, and cosy interiors reminiscent of a traditional Highland lodge. As a wedding videographer, capturing the lively atmosphere of ceilidh dances, the warmth of roaring fires, and the intimacy of candlelit ceremonies becomes a celebration of Scotland's rich cultural heritage and the couple's love story unfolding in a setting of rustic romance. This one is a bit different to the others and I love it for it. It is a great place for a party, the staff are great and it is an easy stagger home for guests! As well as that Princes street gardens with the world famous Edinburgh Castle is just a 5 minnute walk from the venue.
In conclusion, as a wedding videographer in Central Edinburgh, you are fortunate to work in a city adorned with some of the most enchanting and historic venues imaginable. From the grandeur of the Signet Library to the rustic charm of the Ghillie Dhu, each venue offers a unique backdrop for couples to begin their journey together, and for me, as a videographer, to immortalise their love story for years to come.

With its rich history and picturesque surroundings, Barnbougle Castle offers a unique ambiance that appeals to modern couples looking for a blend of tradition and sophistication. I was lucky enough to film at Barnbougle for the first time in October and it instantly became an instant favuirte - how can it not? It is STUNNING!

The Signet library - Wedding Video
The Signet library on Edinburgh’s historic Royal Mile has to be one of my very favourite venues in Scotland. I have worked there a lot but the upstairs library and the ceremony room never fail to blow me away.
On top of that there are so many places to take couples for the couples shoot including all the alleyways and closes off the Mile as well as round the back of Parliament Square to name a few.
The Signet Library stands as a majestic and iconic venue nestled in the heart of Edinburgh, Scotland. Renowned for its neoclassical architecture, grandeur, and historical significance, it serves as a captivating backdrop for weddings steeped in elegance and tradition. Choosing the Signet Library as a wedding venue is an inspired decision, as it offers a setting that effortlessly blends opulence with intimacy, making it an idyllic spot for couples embarking on their journey into marriage.
The Signet Library is a wedding videographers dream. Its grandiose architecture, adorned with Corinthian columns, intricate moldings, and soaring ceilings, provides a breathtaking canvas for cinematic storytelling. Every corner of the library exudes a timeless charm, from the graceful sweep of the staircase (which I have walked up a trillion times - it never gets easy!) to the ornate detailing of the interior spaces, offering a wealth of stunning backdrops for capturing cherished moments.
Its tranquil surroundings, including the picturesque Parliament Square and the historic Royal Mile, add depth and character to wedding footage. I love taking couples out on the Mile - enriching the visual narrative with the essence of Edinburgh's rich heritage. The library's elegant rooms, such as the awe-inspiring Upper Library and the intimate Lower Library, offer versatile settings that cater to varying aesthetics and themes, allowing videographers to unleash their creativity and craft cinematic masterpieces that reflect the unique love story unfolding within its walls.
In essence, the Signet Library transcends its role as a mere wedding venue, emerging as a symbol of timeless romance and grand beauty. For wedding videographers, it represents a canvas where dreams come to life, where every frame is imbued with the magic of love and the splendor of a bygone era. With its blend of architectural magnificence, historical charm, and romantic allure, the Signet Library stands as a beacon of inspiration and creativity, inviting couples and videographers alike to embark on an unforgettable journey filled with love, laughter, and everlasting joy.

Errol Park Wedding Video
Unveiling Love at Errol Park: A Scottish Wedding Videography Dream!
Introduction:
My inaugural visit to Errol Park left me utterly enchanted, and I can't wait to share the highlights from the union of Carolyn and Conor. Iin the heart of Scotland, Errol Park proved to be more than just a venue; it’s breathtaking scenery instantly earned its place among my favourite wedding destinations.
The Setting:
Errol Park, with its sprawling landscapes and historic charm, provided the perfect backdrop for the celebration of Carolyn and Conor's love. The sunlit day added an extra layer of magic to the occasion, making it a joy to capture every precious moment on film.
What sets this wedding apart, besides the radiant couple, is the delightful inclusion of a horse and a dog in the festivities. As if Carolyn and Conor weren't photogenic enough, their furry companions added an extra dose of charm and warmth to an already picturesque day.
Working alongside Kimmie and her dedicated team at Litu Weddings is always a pleasure, and this occasion was no exception. The attention to detail contributed to the overall success of the day. It was also great to collaborate with John Johnston Photography for the first time.
This day would not have been complete without the contributions of a talented group of vendors:

Questions to ask a videographer
When hiring a wedding videographer, it's important to ask them a series of questions to ensure they are the right fit for your special day. Here are some questions to consider:
Experience and Portfolio:
- How long have you been a wedding videographer?
- Can you provide examples of previous wedding videos you've shot?
- Do you have experience with weddings similar to ours in terms of style and size?
Style and Approach:
- How would you describe your videography style?
- Are you comfortable with a specific style or theme we have in mind for our wedding?
- Can you capture both candid moments and posed shots?
Equipment:
- What type of cameras and equipment do you use?
- Do you have backup equipment in case of technical issues?
- Will you bring additional lighting equipment if necessary?
Team and Availability:
- Will you be the one shooting our wedding, or do you have a team?
- If you have a team, can we meet them before the wedding?
- What is your availability for our wedding date, and how many other weddings will you be shooting around that time?
Editing Process:
- What is your editing process like?
- Can we provide input on the editing style or specific moments we want to include?
- How long does it typically take to receive the final video?
Music and Copyrights:
- Can we choose the music for our wedding video, or do you have a library of music to choose from?

Do you need a videographer?
Introduction
Your wedding day is undoubtedly one of the most important and memorable moments in your life. With all the planning, preparation, and anticipation that goes into it, you'll want to capture every precious moment to relive for years to come. While many couples focus on hiring a photographer, have you considered the benefits of having a professional videographer at your wedding? In this guide, we'll explore the reasons why you might need a videographer for your special day.
Preserve Memories
Photographs are wonderful, but they capture only still moments. A wedding videographer can capture the entire atmosphere, emotions, and movement of your wedding day. From the laughter during speeches to the tears during vows, a wedding video allows you to relive these moments in a way that photos alone cannot.
Share with Loved Ones:
Not everyone you care about will be able to attend your wedding in person. A wedding video enables you to share the highlights of your day with friends and family who couldn't make it, making them feel like they were a part of the celebration.
Capture the Sounds and Voices:
One of the most significant advantages of hiring a videographer is the ability to capture the sounds and voices of your wedding day. From your vows to the heartfelt speeches and the music that fills the air, these audio elements can evoke powerful memories that photos alone cannot replicate.
Relive the Candid Moments
Weddings are filled with candid moments that may go unnoticed amidst the excitement of the day. A videographer can capture these spontaneous interactions, ensuring you don't miss a single smile, hug, or funny dance move.
Professional Quality
Hiring a professional videographer ensures that your wedding video will be of the highest quality. They have the experience, equipment, and expertise to capture your day in a cinematic and visually stunning way.
Create a Time Capsule
Your wedding video becomes a timeless keepsake that you can watch on anniversaries or share with future generations. It's a beautiful way to show your children or grandchildren what your special day was like.
Personalized Storytelling
Videographers have the skill to tell a personalized and unique story of your wedding day. They can incorporate interviews, personal messages, and cinematic editing techniques to create a video that truly reflects your love story.
Capture Unexpected Moments
Weddings can be full of surprises and unexpected moments. A videographer is prepared to capture these moments as they unfold, ensuring you don't miss out on any unplanned magic.
Peace of Mind
Knowing that a professional is responsible for capturing your wedding day on video can provide peace of mind. You can relax and enjoy the festivities, knowing that these memories are in capable hands.
Conclusion
While hiring a videographer for your wedding is an additional expense, the benefits far outweigh the cost. A wedding video is a timeless keepsake that allows you to relive your special day and share it with loved ones. It captures not only the visuals but also the emotions, sounds, and candid moments that make your wedding unique. So, if you want to preserve your wedding memories in the most vivid and immersive way possible, consider adding a videographer to your wedding team.

Kirsty & Stuart // Broxmouth Courtyard
Kirsty & Stuart were married at the stunning Broxmouth Courtyard, one of Scotland’s newest wedding venues!
“It is so special being able to watch the ceremony back and we love the way it captures all the little moments that you can’t see in a photo.”
Kirsty & Stuart were married at one of Scotland’s newest wedding venues, Broxmouth Courtyard, in 2022. Full of rustic charm, this stunning exclusive-use venue in Dunbar, East Lothian, was the perfect setting for a beautiful wedding.
Kirsty met Stuart on a night out and after 6 and a half years Stuart proposed on New Year’s Eve 2020, and although we were all in lockdown at the time, Kirsty said that spending that moment together, alone, was just how she imagined it would be.
Planning for the wedding Kirsty explained how they “went back and forward about a videographer and decided we didn’t really need one, but after speaking to our photographer a few weeks before the wedding we were already starting to regret our decision.”
“She convinced us that we needed one! She recommended Joe and put us in touch, we are so unbelievably glad that we got one! It is so special being able to watch the ceremony back and we love the way it captures all the little moments that you can’t see in a photo.”
“My favourite moment was walking down the aisle. We also both loved just standing back and taking it all in during the reception, it was so lovely to have all our loved ones together and to have everyone there for us made us very grateful.” ~ Kirsty
Kirsty’s Advice
“I would say just enjoy it, try not to get stressed over little things you can’t control or things that don’t go exactly how you envisioned. Trust your suppliers to do what they do best and take their advice.”
